Creed III was released on March 3 of this year. It is the third installment in the Creed franchise and the ninth installment in the Rocky franchise, and it follows Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), thriving in both his family life and boxing career. Yet, when he runs into an old friend, Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors), with whom he shares a troubling past, he soon realizes that his childhood friend is no longer who he once was, and they soon come face to face as everything is put on the line to settle this newly discovered rivalry.
Creed III does a good job at being a sports film, with the cinematography being off the charts when it comes to some scenes within the movie. The movie pays tribute to its predecessor, Rocky, with certain scenes paying homage to the 1970s classic film. The choreography within the fight scenes was also excellent, with a realistic and gritty quality to them. However, while the story telling is good, it does get foggy at times as it doesn’t go into too much depth with the friends’ histories.
As for how other people felt about this movie, senior Riley Marquis felt that “It was unplanned, but it had better elements than Creed I and II, with the boxing scenes being better, but it was a disappointment that Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) wasn’t in it, but overall, it was good.” Marquis rated it a 7/10.
Sophomore Aiden Carter “Creed III was a wonderful addition to the collection of Michael B. Jordan movies. The movie is an upward spiral of conflicting emotions and ecstatic storytelling and is definitely worth multiple watches.” Carter rated it a 9/10.
Overall, the movie is worth the watch, especially if you are a fan of not only the past Creed movies but also if you are a boxing fanatic. Creed III debuted with an impressive $58.7 million at the box office.
