Florida has volunteered to host the Olympics of 2021. The Olympics are originally supposed to be hosted in Tokyo but 80% of Japans citizens believe that hosting the Olympics will be a covid infested event. Tokyo thinks it would be better not to risk it. Especially since this could be a cost of 2.8 billion dollars.
The Florida Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis sent a letter to International Olympic Committee, President Thomas Bach, asking what they consider for taking the games to Florida. Overall, billions of dollars and a heck of a lot of covid precautions will have to be taken for the Olympics to happen in Florida. Tokyo will also have to completely agree and say for certain that they don’t want to host the olympics.
Patronis stated that, “Unlike other states, when the COVID-19 vaccine comes to Florida it doesn’t just sit on the shelf wrapped in government red tape; it moves fast to protect our communities.”
Clearly Patronis is determined to host the Olympics in Florida and is willing to take all the precautions necessary.
Many people have mixed opinions about Florida hosting the Olympics but, at least there are plans to have an Olympics this year and let’s just see what happens!
