On Tuesday March 20th, self-driving uber testing came to a halt because the uber hit and killed a 49 year old woman named Elaine Herzberg. Ms. Herzburg was crossing the street when the uber came approaching, and there was a human in the car but it was on self driving mode and could not do anything to help the cause. Uber wonders why the car malfunctioned but believes a good reason why it did was because “Ms. Herzberg was not using the Pedestrian Walk” according to police reports. On another note though, the lady that was behind the wheel of the uber was an armed robber and convicted felon who had not been watching the road before the accident occurred. There has been plenty of controversy behind this subject, and know this adds more questions to the conversation of why it was being tested the way it was.
