How To Prevent Car Break-ins

Each year, $1.255 billion in personal items are stolen from vehicles in about 1.85 million thefts; and for every theft, experts estimate, there are several break-ins and attempted break-ins. An immense reason why there are car break-ins are from unlocked doors. Even if you aren’t going to be away from your vehicle for very long, you should always lock it. Easily locking the doors will daunt those that might be waiting for an easy target.

Always make sure your car is kept very tidy. Anything could look like a valuable to take. Maybe consider tinted windows or window covers. If you leave any electronics in your vehicle, you should hide it or better yet, take it with you. Get in the habit of placing shopping bags in the trunk right when you return to the vehicle, instead of after you park at the next location.

If you really want to keep your car and belongings safe, you can install an alarm system. The loud noise can scare them off and prevent the break-in. Try parking closer to the location rather than far away, so that your car isn’t poking out like a sore thumb.
