This past week the town of Bradenton as we know it, changed. The Confederate monument has sat next to the Manatee County Historic Courthouse for the past 93 years. The groups leading the protest were the Black Lives Matter Alliance Sarasota Manatee Chapter and Indivisible Bradenton Pro-gressive and Answer Suncoast. The protest started peacefully but then took a quick turn. The protest became violent and ended with three arrests. The protest escalated when Manatee County Commissioner Charles Smith favored the side to remove the statue. After the vote it was decided to remove the statue. Early morning on Wednesday the deconstruction began. Along with removing the statue it was then broken in half.
